Mental Health Assessment for Young Children: Leadership Overview to Support Agency Implementation

April 17 | 2pm - 5pm

This training is intended to provide participants with an overview of the Mental Health Assessment for Young Children policy, including the background, approach, and content areas of DC:0-5™ Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC:0-5). This training provides leaders with guidance on Washington State Apple Health policies and offers resources to support enhancing your agency’s mental health services for young children and their families.

You will learn about:

  • Infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH), including the emotional and behavioral challenges very young children may experience.

  • The importance of developmentally appropriate assessment and diagnostic practices for infants and very young children

  • Apple Health IECMH policies and resources, agency best practices from the field, and strategies to enhance your team’s ability to provide services to young children and their families.

This training may be particularly helpful for agency administrators, supervisors, and other non-clinical staff whose role supports mental health assessment and services for children birth to five. It is being offered by the IECMH Workforce Collaborative at no cost for professionals serving children birth to five enrolled in Apple Health.
